Jerald Lee Hill is a construction company president from Jackson County, Missouri. Hill has lived and worked across much of the so-called Show-Me state, including Kansas City and Columbia, MO. He is the former assistant to the United States Senator John C. Danforth. Today, the Missouri native heads up operations at Calamar Construction and Development.

The Kansas City-based construction company president is a graduate of William Jewell College and the University of Missouri School of Law. He also completed overseas studies at Harlaxton College in Lincolnshire, England.

Hill proudly supports various good causes, including local homeless shelters and food kitchens in and around Kansas City. Away from his work and charitable efforts, he enjoys golf, history, movies, professional football, reading, travel, and attending church.

Calamar Construction and Development

Jerald is the president of Calamar Construction and Development in Kansas City, Missouri. The company has a second office in Wheatfield, New York. Calamar Construction and Development is a real estate development, construction, and management firm. The firm owns and operates around 30 independent senior living communities valued at over $500 million.

Hill joined the company as president in 2016. His primary focus involves controlling Calamar's nationwide construction activity, preparing its construction budgets, and implementing strategic plans. That is in addition to hiring and supervising its senior construction management team.

Under his guidance, Calamar is responsible for annual construction projects valued at over $250,000,000.

Career History

Resource Development, Inc.

Before joining Calamar Construction and Development, Jerald Lee Hill spent over a decade as the chief operating officer of Resource Development, Inc. in Springfield, Missouri. Resource Development, Inc. is a real estate construction, development, and management firm with operations in Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The firm oversees the construction of projects ranging from multi-family homes and other residential properties to commercial, retail, and office space. At Resource Development, Inc., Hill's responsibilities as COO included overseeing all management, fiscal, and operational matters while reporting directly to the firm's owner.

He also managed outside professionals and consultants, including accountants, architects, contractors, financial advisors, land use planners, outside legal counsel, site engineers, and real estate brokers.

In the decade that Hill spent as Resource Development's COO, he restructured and restaffed its financial and accounting teams. These efforts and various others ultimately helped grow the company's holdings by more than 100 percent and increased combined annual revenues by over 250 percent.

Earlier Roles

Earlier roles held by Jerald Lee Hill include serving as the president of the Kansas City-based consultancy firm Appellate Advantage from 1996-1999. Privately owned Appellate Advantage provides case management, consulting, and document preparation services to attorneys practicing before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining Appellate Advantage, he was Landmark Legal Foundation's director of administration and counsel from 1982 to 1985 and its president from 1985 to 1996. Landmark Legal Foundation is a national litigation and public policy institute that handles matters at local, federal, and state levels in the executive, judicial, and legislative U.S. government branches.

Hill joined Appellate Advantage after serving as the assistant to United States Senator John C. Danforth for five years between 1977 and 1982. At that time, Danforth was the chairman of the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee is responsible for vital business and trade policies, including foreign and interstate commerce.

As Danforth's assistant, Hill supported the senator with federal government matters involving the Department of Commerce, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Environment Protection Agency, and the Federal Trade Commission.

Academic History

William Jewell College

Jerald Lee Hill is a graduate of William Jewell College in Clay County, Missouri. It is from William Jewell College that he holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Political Science. While studying at William Jewell College, he served as student body president. He graduated in 1979.

William Jewell College is a private liberal arts college in Liberty, Missouri. The Missouri Baptist Convention founded the college in 1849 with a $10,000 endowment from Dr. William Jewell. Dr. Jewell was an educator, minister, physician, and politician from Columbia, Missouri, where he was also the city's second-ever mayor.

University of Missouri School of Law

After completing his studies at William Jewell College in 1979, Jerald graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law. It was while studying at the acclaimed law school that he first found himself situated in Columbia. The school, founded in 1872, is located in downtown Columbia on the University of Missouri's main campus.

Hill, Columbia, MO resident and University of Missouri School of Law student earned his Juris Doctor from the city's famous law school.

Harlaxton College

Jerald undertook further overseas studies at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England. Now known as Harlaxton College University of Evansville, the school provides opportunities for students of all backgrounds to immerse themselves in British culture, history, and life.

He studied British and European history and European economics at the renowned Grantham-based English university. The school sits in the heart of the coastal county of Lincolnshire – the second largest county in England after North Yorkshire.

Personal Life & Interests

Jerald Lee Hill, Columbia, MO, and now Jackson County, MO, resident lives in Kansas City in the Show-Me State. He is a former winner of the William Jewell College Col. Alexander Doniphan Award for Outstanding Male and maintains Outstanding Alumni status from the same institution.

Away from his work, the Missouri native proudly supports various good causes, including several local food kitchens and homeless shelters in and around Kansas City. He has been happily married for over 40 years.

Jerald further revels in numerous hobbies and other interests. These hobbies and interests include golf, history, movies, professional football, reading, travel, and spending time in the great outdoors. He is also closely involved with his local church.
